SUSSEX COUNTY VALENTINES

I have little doubt that this family connects to the one in the previous outline, but have not found a direct link as of this posting. Sussex County deeds show that Joseph Valentine purchased property of William Little in 1804. This is possibly Joseph, the son of Jonas Valentine and Sarah Bedell (see previous outline) who married Temperence Little. In 1816 a Jacob Valentine also purchased property in Sussex County. His identity is unknown. Lewis J. Valentine, another early resident of Sussex County, indicates on the 1850 Sussex County Census for Frankford Twp., that he was born in Hempstead, L. I. (Enumerated with Son-In-Law, John Cole.) There is little doubt that Lewis J. in someway connects to Joseph Valentine. They are both named in Snell's discussion of the Andover Methodist Episcopal Church. ("HISTORY OF SUSSEX AND WARREN COUNTIES, NEW JERSEY" by James P. Snell, page 446.)
