GARDNER, Charles A., seventy six years of age, died at the home of Charles Maines, 7 Liberty Street, Thursday of last week. He was the son of Charles R. Gardner and Harriet Crabtree. He made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Maines. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. S. Carew, of Caldwell and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Harris of Dover. Services At the home of Mrs. Maines. GARDNER, Paul H., twenty-six years old, died Saturday morning at his home in Andover. He was shell-shocked and gassed in France during the war. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gardner of the vicinity of Andover. Funeral services were held Tuesday at his late home with interment in Andover Cemetery.

GARDNER, Mrs. Sarah DURLING, wife of Charles A. Gardner, at Gardner's Lake, died Oct. 8th , aged 64 years. Her only son, Paul, who served his country overseas during the World War, died as a result of being gassed about a year ago and it is claimed this seened to impair the health of Mrs. Gardner. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. J. Steadman Carew, husband, and sister, Mrs. David L. Horton. Funeral: At the home.

GARRIS, Mrs. Mary E. of Newton, died in Fredon, Sunday, age 82 yrs, dau/o Conrad and Keziah (RIFENBERY) WELTER. Survived by: Two sons, Abram GARRIS of Columbia and George GARRIS of Newton; three daus, Mrs. Eleanor KITHCART of Newton, Mrs. Clark HILL of Fredon and Miss Florence GARRIS of New Rochelle. Funeral: At the home of dau, Mrs. Clark HILL. Burial: Stillwater Cemetery.

GARRISON, Mrs. Martha (Roe), wife of our aged and esteemed citizen, Simeon GARRISON, died at her home in this borough on Wednesday night of this week. Mrs. Garrison was born December 23rd, 1830 near Liberty Corner, and was a daughter of John J. and Sarah ROE. She was united in marriage to Simeon GARRISON on December 29th, 1853. The greater part of their married life was spent in the Clove Valley. They removed to this borough about twelve years ago. Besides her husband, the deceased is survived by two children: Mrs. Emmet WILSON, living near this town, and John, residing in the Clove. She is also survived by one brother, Jacob D. ROE of Paterson, and one sister, Miss Hattie ROE, of this borough. She was a member of the M. E. Church of this town. The funeral will be held on Saturday morning.
Interment: Papakating cemetery.

GIVEANS, Abigail, died at her home with her sister, Mrs. R. J. BLAUVELT, in Lafayette, on Friday last. She was a daughter of John F. and Mary (Simonson) Giveans formerly of Vernon, where she was born and reared. After her mother’s death her father removed to Deckertown where she kept house for him and her brother, John S., until their death. The latters death in 1905 broke up the household. Seven brothers and sisters survive her. Samuel S., of Bay St.Louis, Miss; Christopher, of Glenwood; Isadore, of Newton; Mrs. Hannah COUSE, of Hamburg; Mrs. Kate S. BLAUVELT, of Lafayette; and Mrs. Emma FISHER, of Washington, D. C. She was about 63 years of age. The funeral was held at the house on Monday , Rev. E. E. Loux officiating. Interment in Deckertown Union cemetery.

GIVEANS, Christopher Giveans died Tuesday night at his home at Glenwood. He was fifty eight years old and was a son of John F. and Emiline Simonson Giveans and was born in Vernon township. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Donald WELCH of Hoboken, and Mrs. James COLBERT, of Jersey City, and one son, Oscar, of Warwick. Also the following brothers and sisters, Samuel S. Giveans, of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; Mrs. Hannah COUSE, of Hamburg, Margaret, wife of B. H. POTTER, of Branchville; Kate S., wife of R. J. BLAUVELT, of Lafayette; Bowdewine, of Port Jervis; Isadore, of Newton, and Mrs. Ella Fisher of Washington, D. C. The funeral will be held at his home Saturday. Burial in Warwick Cemetery.

GIVEANS, Mrs. Emma of 236 Spring Street, died Wednesday at Newton Memorial Hospital. She was 82. Born in Ellenville, N. Y., she was the widow of Charles Giveans and is survived by a sister, Mrs. Mary B. SERGEANT of Newton. Funeral services will be held from the Smith Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, to Christ Church for a requiem Eucharistic Mass on Friday. Interment will be in the Warwick Cemetery, N. Y.

GIVEANS, John - After an illness of about two weeks, during which he was a patient at Thrall Hospital, Middletown, John Giveans, aged seventy-three years, died Wednesday of last week. Mr. Giveans had resided at New Hampton, near Middletown, for the past three years. He was born at Vernon on March 1, 1842, a son of William D. Giveans and Jane Ryerson. He is survived by his wife and four children and one brother two sisters. The funeral was held in Middletown Saturday , and interment was made in Hillside Cemetery.

GIVEANS - Funeral services for Kittie M. Giveans, who died Monday night at her home 150 W. Main Street, will be held there Friday the Rev. Harold C. DeWindt will officiate. Internment will be at the family plot Hillside Cemetery. Miss Giveans a resident of this vicinity most of her life was born in Vernon, N. J. Her parents were Sylvester and Mary Hunt Giveans. Surviving are a brother Elroy Giveans of Middletown, a nieces Mrs. J. K. Walket of Glen Ridge, N. J. and a nephew Burr Giveans.

GIVEANS, Mary E., died at her home in New York City Sunday morning, aged seventy-eight years. She was born in Vernon, a daughter of Horace and Susan Ann STORMS. She married John Giveans, now deceased. She is survived by two sons and two daughters: William H. Giveans, George H. Giveans, Mrs. John Sommers and Mrs. Frances Kyle, all of New York City, and one brother, Theodore B. Storms of Vernon. The funeral was held Wednesday at 10:30 A. M. at Cook’s Bureau Parlors at Willis Avenue, New York City. Burial in Woodlawn cemetery, the Bronx

GIVEANS, Mary Longwell, died on the homestead farm near Vernon on Wednesday evening, December 30. Early in life she was married to Nathan B. GIVEANS, who died about thirty-eight years ago. Unto them were born three children, Charles L, who with his wife, lived at home; Mrs. Lizzie PALMER, who died only a few years ago, and Mrs. Julia FIELCH(sic), of Pleasant Valley, N. Y. Her funeral, was held at her late home on Sunday afternoon, Rev. R. R. Hill, officiating. Interment in the family plot at Warwick, NY.

GIVEANS, Nicholas R., died Saturday morning at Thrall Hospital, Middletown. A few years ago he gave up farming and went to the Northwest, in the State of Washington, where he has two sons. That country not appealing to him he returned East, and bought a truck farm at Bellvale, where he resided up to the time of his death. Mr. Giveans was born at McAfee sixty-six years ago. He is survived by his widow and six children: John and Brice, of Green Lake, Wash.; Harry and Benjamin, of Warwick; Grace, wife of James H. SMITH, and Jennie, wife of Jacob J. RYERSON, both of Warwick. Funeral: Calvary Baptist Church, Warwick, Wednesday, Rev. James Bristow officiating. Interment was in the family plot in Warwick Cemetery.

GIVEANS, Samuel R., died in Plainfield Thursday last week aged 73. He was born in Sussex County and resided in Indiana for a time and in Newburgh, N. Y. His wife, died 17 years ago and he had since then made his home with his son, Dr. B. W. Giveans, in East Orange. He is survived by another son, W. W. Giveans of Newark; also by two daughters: Mrs. Hattie B. LUFF, and Mrs. Ada McGREGOR of East Orange. The funeral was held at his son, Dr. Giveans’ house, on Sunday afternoon. Interment in Rosedale cemetery.

GIVENS, Charles L., of Sparta, died of a heart attach at his Summer home at Vernon Tuesday of last week. His body was removed to Shuman’s funeral home at Sparta. He was born in Warwick, N. Y., seventy years ago, the son of Nathan B. GIVEANS and Mary E. LONGWELL. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma P. GIVEANS, and one sister, Mrs. Edward H. FIELD, of New York. Services were conducted Friday morning at St. Mary’s Church, Sparta, Rev. Edwin S. Ford officiating. Burial was in Warwick Cemetery.

GIVENS, John Farber, one of the oldest and best known residents of this borough died at the home of his daughter, Hannah, widow of the late Dr. J. P. COUSE, of Hamburg, on Tuesday evening, January 14th. For many years past, he has made his home with his son, John S., and his daughter, Abigail, who have a pleasant home on Hamburg avenue. The deceased was born in Vernon township, February 1st, 1822, and was within a couple of weeks of being eighty years old. He was the only child of the late Samuel and Abigail Farber Givens, and passed the greater part of his life in Vernon township. On the 19th of September, 1845, he married Emeline SIMONSON, a daughter of Christopher and Hannah Simonson. Of their union eleven children were born, ten of whom are still living. They are Samuel S. Givens, of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; Abigail and John S., at home; Hannah, wife of the late doctor Couse, of Hamburg; Christopher, at Amity; Margaret, wife of Barret H. Potter, of Morristown; Kate, wife of R. J. Blauvelt, of Lafayette; Emma, wife of John H. Fisher, of Pennsylvania; Bowdewine, of Beaver Run, and Isadore, living in this town. His wife died February 25, 1889. The funeral will be held on Saturday morning at the home of Mrs. Couse, at Hamburg. Interment in the Papakating Cemetery.
